ACER Altos Caf Held

Containing the thematic expression, Worlds fastest growing computer brand- Executive Technologies Limited, the authorized business partner of ACER conducted a different kind of gala event, entitled as Altos Caf in 19 January 08 at a local hotel in the capital.

Acer Bangladeshs Business Development Manager Shekhar Karmakar, Chief Customer Support officer Sudipta Ghosh and Chief Hardware Support Officer Kamesh Kumar Roy took a little while for there interesting and technology focused discussion. In his speech Shekhar mentioned, For the last 30 years Acer is serving the world wide people with their innovative technology and support and Acer is the only brand in the market that can provide Laptop for less than 50,000 Taka. He also mentioned Taiwan is improving rapidly their position in IT product manufacturing and Acer is one of the top most IT player in Taiwan.

During the event, Acer demonstrated their latest IT products, Desktop, Notebook, Server-Storage, Video Projector and Display monitors. The most attractive part was the TECHNOLOGY SHOW. This was basically a blend of a fashion show and technology presentation- based on ramp modeling concept, but to demonstrate the ACER Products. During the technology show, Aspire 2920 Ultra Portable, Aspire 4720 NWXMI, Extensa 5210NWLMI and the L310 Ultra-Small Form Factor PC attracted the attention of the audience.

HP Expands Entry-level Server Portfolio

HP on January 20, 2008 at Dhaka announced new economical servers, application solution blueprints and enhanced remote management software that can help midsize companies reduce operating costs while supporting their growth.

The companys entry-level server portfolio now includes four new HP ProLiant server platforms that help midsize customers with limited space, budgets and IT staff.

HP also has developed new Midmarket Business Solutions that cut the time and effort needed for customers and channel partners to either create or upgrade critical business applications for entry-level ProLiant servers.

The new products and solutions are part of HPs Adaptive Infrastructure portfolio, which helps customers of all sizes reap the benefits of an infrastructure tailored to their business requirements.

The four new platforms in the HP ProLiant entry-level portfolio are dense, high-capacity servers that improve data availability while protecting against data loss with embedded Serial ATA (SATA) Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID).

The new lineup includes: HP ProLiant DL180 G5, HP ProLiant DL185 G5, HP ProLiant DL165 G5, HP ProLiant DL160 G5. Also updated with the new features are the ProLiant ML110 G5, ML150 G5, ML310 G5 and DL320 G5p.

Microsoft organized Financial Sector CIO Roundtable

Feroz Mahmud and Freddy Tan in CIO roundtable discussion

Microsoft Bangladesh has recently organized a roundtable discussion on IT Security in Financial Institutes. CIOs from various Financial Institutes and banks including senior executives from Bangladesh Bank and BIBM have attended this roundtable. The objective of this roundtable was to share experiences, address the key security issues and ascertain suggestions to improve Information Security of Financial Institutes. Freddy Tan, Chief Security Advisor, Microsoft Asia presented the key notes. Feroz Mahmud, Country Manager, Microsoft Bangladesh welcomed the participants highlighting the importance of IT security in todays business environment. He added that IT security threats and risk can be damaging and incur significant loss in business in sensitive financial institutes like banks. Freddy highlighted that security is not just about technology. Policy, processes and competency of IT Professionals are equally important. Later Freddy Tan presented the Microsoft Roadmap on Platform Security & described readiness of Microsoft Technology for Enterprises. Microsoft informed the participants to continue their support for education in IT security, sharing of standard business practices and provide updated IT security information and guideline to customers.
